I’m Sam Fuqua, and I’m running to represent you on Boulder City Council

I'm running out of a sense of deep gratitude. Boulder gave my family the opportunities to raise our kids and build a good life here, and affordable housing made that possible. Without it, we wouldn't be here. It's at the top of my list, because I want young families today and tomorrow to have the same chance my family did.

I bring years of public service experience: eight years on the Boulder Valley Board of Education (two as board president), and a recent term on the Boulder Library District Board of Trustees.

What I value in working through hard issues:

• Thorough, transparent public process

• Multiple perspectives, from the community, my colleagues past and present, and my fellow board members. When decision-makers are surrounded by a wide range of perspectives, they make better decisions.

For every issue, I ask:

• What problem are we solving, and why now?

• What's working, and how do we build on it?

• Does this connect to a community priority? If not, why take it up?

• What will it cost, and where does the money come from?

• What information do I need, and how do I get it?
